How Does an Onward Ticket Work?
An onward ticket service creates a temporary airline reservation for the passenger, route and date entered at checkout. The completed itinerary includes a booking reference, or PNR, and remains active for a limited period before the reservation is released.
From route to reservation
You choose the departure airport, onward destination, date and passenger name. After payment is confirmed, the reservation is created through an airline reservation network and the completed itinerary is delivered by email.
The passenger spelling and airport codes matter. Review them before payment because they become part of the airline record.
What the PNR tells you
The PNR identifies the reservation record. It is different from the Avionward order number and different from a paid e-ticket number.
Where supported by the operating airline, use its official Manage Booking or My Trips page to check the reference with the passenger surname.
Why the active window matters
Temporary reservations are held for a limited period. The active window and the future flight date are different: a flight may be dated weeks ahead while the reservation itself is intended to remain active for 48 hours.
Order close enough to the moment you need the itinerary, or use Activate Later when available.
