United Airlines' Travel-Ready Center is designed to help passengers review the entry requirements that apply to their destination and manage required travel documentation.
That means the need for an onward ticket depends on:
- destination;
- passport;
- residence;
- visa / travel status.
There is no one United-only onward rule for every international flight.
If your destination requires onward evidence and accepts a reservation, Avionward starts from $12.
United can review travel requirements before departure
United's Travel-Ready Center lets travelers review destination requirements and manage documentation before travel.
This is another reason not to assume that the only document checked will be your passport.
